County calls off Monday public hearing after the docket empties
Two items tabled and one withdrawn leave nothing to hear, but commissioners still meet at 6 p.m.
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners has canceled the public hearing it had set for 5:30 p.m. Monday in Carnesville. The county calendar marks the hearing canceled and gives the reason as no items, with two tabled and one withdrawn.
The regular commission meeting that follows is still on the calendar for 6 p.m. the same evening at the same location.
No agenda for the Sept. 14 meeting had been posted to the county agenda center as of Thursday morning. Agendas and past meeting materials are posted there as they are released.

Proclamation bars some Canadian dairy imports starting Sept. 29
A presidential proclamation excludes certain Canadian dairy products, listed in an annex to the document, from importation into the United States. It applies to goods entered on or after 12:01 a.m. Eastern time on Sept. 29 and cites Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930. The document says it follows a July 20 proclamation that imposed 50 percent duties on certain Canadian goods and a suspension that expired Aug. 22. The annex listing the specific products is a separate file.

Franklin County Schools
Franklin County Schools has an electronic device policy out for public review, posted alongside a presentation on the high school cell phone pilot. The Corps of Engineers says lake level restrictions at Hartwell Lake stay in place until a long term engineering fix is designed and built for seepage at the Clemson Lower Diversion Dam saddle dike; the guide curve remains 656 feet with a 662 foot ceiling. The Depot Farmers Market runs Wednesdays and Saturdays through October. Downtown Lavonia's 2026 calendar has the Christmas tree lighting and market on Nov. 24 and the Christmas parade on Dec. 6.
Where we could not look this morning. The Franklin County Chamber events calendar loaded a blank January 2026 template with no dated listings. A White House proclamation page on Canadian alcoholic beverages returned a 403 error, so only the companion dairy proclamation could be read. The Franklin County Schools news page returned a 404, so the electronic device policy item was read only from the district home page; its full text sits in the eBoard agenda portal, which this edition does not fetch. The Lavonia Carnegie Library page listed no dated programs. The City of Lavonia site has posted nothing new since Aug. 26 and shows no 2026 agenda page. The Franklin County news flash has nothing newer than Aug. 28.
