Lavonia Fall Festival takes over downtown on Saturday
The Downtown Development Authority calls it the city's signature fall celebration. A start time is not posted.
The Lavonia Fall Festival is set for Saturday, September 26, in downtown Lavonia. The Downtown Development Authority describes the event as Lavonia's signature fall celebration, with hundreds of vendors, handmade goods, food, local shopping, live entertainment and family activities.
The festival page does not list a start time, an end time, a street closure map or an entertainment lineup. Residents planning around downtown traffic will need to check with the DDA directly at dda@lavoniaga.gov or 706-356-1926.
Vendor applications are closed. The DDA says anyone still interested can submit the 2026 application form to be added to a waitlist for future events.

SAT · OKLAHOMA AT GEORGIA · 3:30 P.M. · ESPN · SANFORD STADIUM
Georgia hosts Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon in Athens, coming off a 45-17 win at Arkansas that opened SEC play.
• This is only the second meeting ever between the two programs. The first was the 2018 College Football Playoff semifinal at the Rose Bowl, which Georgia won 54-48 in double overtime. Georgia Athletics
• Fifth-year inside linebacker Terrell Foster and senior tight end Lawson Luckie spoke to reporters Tuesday to preview the game. The school posted video but no transcript, so no quotes or injury notes could be read. Georgia Athletics
• Georgia has outscored its three opponents 178-40, with wins over Tennessee State 63-3, Western Kentucky 70-20 and Arkansas 45-17. Georgia Athletics
• The school's schedule page does not state a national ranking for either team. Georgia Athletics

Still posted and worth knowing: Gov. Brian Kemp announced in late August that Walmart will build a next generation fulfillment center in Carnesville, which the state says will bring about 1,000 jobs to Franklin County (Governor's office). The county has posted a price change at the convenience centers and an AED reporting requirement under the Mason Sells Act (Franklin County news flash). The Franklin County Sheriff's Office posts its own notices and does not publish an arrest list on its main page (Sheriff's Office). The Lavonia-Carnegie Library has announced a celebration of Andrew Carnegie's 190th birthday, but the posting does not give a date (library page).
Where we could not look this morning. The Hartwell Lake level restrictions page and the Savannah District news releases returned a 403 error on two tries, so there is no lake or Corps update today. The Franklin County Chamber calendar loaded but showed no dated events. The Department of War releases page did not render. The City of Lavonia live feed has posted nothing since August 26. The Music on Main page lists only dates through August, so the concert series appears to be finished for the year. The Franklin County Board of Education meetings page points to an outside portal that this report does not fetch, so no October board date could be confirmed. The National Weather Service JSON feed for Lavonia returned stale data on four tries, with update stamps ranging from September 4 to September 16, so today's weather comes from the NWS point forecast page, which updated at 6:19 a.m. today.
